What you do by giving? When you give, you generate hope. And in so doing, you not only give but also receive. You receive a place in the heart of a child that he or she will carry for the rest of its life. You also become part of a network that is actively engaged in bringing hope where there is very little or none at all.
You contribute to sustaining the Centre for Culture and the Arts in a major shanty town, that, through its programme ‘Art in situations of Conflict’, has transformed the lives of hundreds of children since its foundation in 1990, providing them with alternatives to violence, drugs, crime and social and collective anonymity.
You help vulnerable children become empowered so that they may become protagonists for peace, symbols and agents of transformation in their own families and in their own communities.
You help maintain the retreat centre, ‘City Of The Angels’, in the country where children from the shanty towns can experience the power of nature to heal the wounds inflicted on them by injustice and abandonment.
To be a volunteer at the VPCC is an experience of donation, fraternity and also of culture, because here you help to build a place of life, love and friendship...
